Transform :
Fourier transform gives a frequency
domain representation of time domain signals. It is applicable for both
periodic and aperiodic signals.
An aperiodic signal is one which is
periodic with an infinite period. As the period increases the fundamental
frequency decreases which makes aperiodic signal infinitesimally close in
frequency and the representation in terms of linear combination takes the form
of an integral rather than sum. The resulting spectrum is called Fourier Transform.
It is an extension of Fourier series
for aperiodic signals.
By fourier transform we can represent the signal from time domain to frequency domain , thus we can find the various frequency components contained in given signal. It helps us to find the total Bandwidth required for transmission of given signal.
